Member of the Month - May 2018
As we get ready for MACC, there is no more fitting Member-of-the-Month than Promoting Electric Propulsion (PEP) competitor Lou Novak! Read on to learn a bit more about Lou in his interview with Membership Manager Michelle.
Michelle: What got you into Naval Engineering? (What specific event or moment).
Lou: I suspect when I took my commission in the Navy many years ago, my engineering became “Naval”.
Michelle: What is a fun fact most people don't know about you?
Lou: I am still active in the Merchant Marine.
Michelle: What is one engineer/scientist/ or mathematician dead or alive would you like to meet?
Lou: The enigmatic Nickola Tesla made some outrageous claims I would love to question. I would also like to ask Noah about the gopher wood used in ark construction.
Michelle: If you could engineer your perfect concession stand/food truck, what would it be?
Lou: The perfect food truck would be amphibious (with spuds) and provide crepes and ice cream. Many recreational boats have grills but fewer have griddles and much refrigeration capacity.
Michelle: Why are you a member of ASNE?
Lou: I am a member of ASNE to participate in fun events like Promoting Electric Propulsion next month.
Michelle: What does "Naval Engineering" mean to you?
Lou: Naval Engineering means problem solving as faced by engineers who have any connection with a Navy.
