Subject: Design & Engineering for Future Submarines
This discussion will cover the overall effort and challenges to develop a new attack submarine, including historical context, innovations, and lessons from the SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA programs. Differences between the current submarine development environment and that of the past will frame the discussion on the evolution of design and engineering methods employed for submarines. Speaker: Dr. Morgan C. Parker is the Ship Design Manager for Future Submarines at the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), directly supporting the SSN(X) project.
