Speaking & Listening Materials (Downloadables below)
Discovery TV created this video about the innovations that took place in history that allow for the world’s largest cruise liner to exist today. We think Discovery TV did a great job presenting problems confronting naval engineers and how naval engineers of different generations solved these challenges. The full video is embedded here and clips from the video are highlighted below.
These files have all the learning worksheets in one file. If you prefer to have students working online, you may want to use the links and worksheets below. They are broken down by clip.

Problem-Solution Sources
This video deals with the problems naval engineers encountered over the last two hundred years, and the solutions they designed to overcome these problems. Problem-solution is a powerful organizing tool. Texas A&M has produced this video to help students develop strategies for understanding problem-solution texts. If your students struggle with the video, this resource may help them understand how the information is being presented.
